Chris-Denver says: Boozin' with the Oldies 29 Jan 05 // 5:33PM

Grey444 recounts memories of Denver's more down-to-earth bar hoppin scene before all them yuppies moved in.

Chris-Denver says: Moving On... 28 Nov 04 // 6:47PM

As the big city has spoken, a recent move to New York City has at last removed me from my beloved homegrown existence to new and exciting things to come. With that comes changes, and so I am letting my fellow City Stories friends and readers know that I will be moving on from DenverStories.com. At the present moment, I am not sure whether or not the site will continue under someone else or if I will regretfully end up shuttering the site. Either way, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of the other cities and their readers, writers and everyone else for keeping the City Story concept alive. I've considered pursuing a New York version, but for now I haven't made up my mind.

Best of luck to all readers, writers, and those responsible for accelerating the idea of city-based story telling.

Sincerely,

Chris Goranson

Chris-Denver says: Abandoned in Denver 11 Jul 04 // 2:12PM

Two new entries on DenverStories.com: A rather troubling story about abandonment and parting thoughts from Robin who leaves us for Alaska. We will miss you Robin!

Chris-Denver says: The Secret Password 30 Apr 04 // 2:44PM

Do you know the secret password? VIP parties and Denver-speak in "Be-yooooond".

I Like a runaway stagecoach...

Chris-Denver says: Nine Dollah G&T 22 Apr 04 // 3:01PM

*AHEM* It's getting a little lonely in here. Gijyun shares the disgust of an overpriced drink and the ramifications of a bar over-charging for booze in Hush Hush.

Chris-Denver says: A Denver Family Story 20 Apr 04 // 12:22PM

Denver's rough and tumble past is coming to greater light, perhaps partially due to a rekindled fascination with the Wild Wild West. Abby shares her family's tragic but true story recounted through interviews, newspaper articles and old family letters in "A Denver Family Story".

Chris-Denver says: Vortex of Melancholy 13 Apr 04 // 8:37PM

Gijyun shares thoughts on an un-rocking experience at the Larimer Lounge in "Azure Ray Does NOT ROCK". Bottles of gin on the wall in a seedier but ultra-cool dive, sometimes you don't know what you're in for until it's too late.

Chris-Denver says: Happy Happy Hippies 4 Apr 04 // 5:34PM

Gijyun recounts a night out on the town and a rather unpleasant sight in "Alcohol, Urban Areas and You". Dancing hippies, a fiddler toughy and the Colfax Strip make for a mean recipe - especially if your 3 scotch's to the wind...

Chris-Denver says: Market Street Madness 25 Mar 04 // 7:25AM

A slice of Market Street madness remembered by a Denver bar hopper in "White Pants". Market Street used to be Denver's Red Light District back in the late 1800's. We'll be covering a new musical (yes, musical) opening on the street later this week, complete with Can-Can girls, barkeeps, faux gambling and coachmen valets. The Western theme seems to be more and more popular these days - even HBO is on board with their new series Deadwood (which by the way is pretty good and doesn't appear to follow your typical Hollywood western recipe).

Chris-Denver says: Denver Living 9 Mar 04 // 8:52AM

Ginou shares thoughts on Denver, oddities included in "Observations of Denver".

Chris-Denver says: Snow Day 14 Feb 04 // 7:49PM

A recap of Denver's blizzard in Snow Day is now on DenverStories.com.

Our 2nd public reading was a smashing success - stories were read, friends were made, and Robin even provided free t-shirts!

Chris-Denver says: DenverStories Reading 9 Jan 04 // 11:59AM

DenverStories will be hosting our 2nd public reading to kick of 2004, to be held at Paris on the Platte at 2PM, Sunday February 8th. Visit the DenverStories website for more information!

Chris-Denver says: Capitol Hill Secrets, Part I 17 Nov 03 // 12:46PM

The first of hopefully a series of local "secrets" is now on-line in "Capitol Hill Secrets, Part I". Denver Stories has also made it on to the Denver Post's weblogging page, Bloghouse.

Thanks to Derek for the inspiration on sharing the little "secrets".

Chris-Denver says: The Supper Club 3 Nov 03 // 7:55AM

Denver's nightlife seems to be the theme du jour - Nick shares thoughts on the awkwardness and subsequent relief of meeting strangers for a supper club in "The Coral Room".

Our 2nd Annual Spooky Stories contest is underway - submit your own spooky story!
