Grey444 recounts memories of Denver's more down-to-earth bar hoppin scene before all them yuppies moved in.

As the big city has spoken, a recent move to New York City has at last removed me from my beloved homegrown existence to new and exciting things to come. With that comes changes, and so I am letting my fellow City Stories friends and readers know that I will be moving on from DenverStories.com. At the present moment, I am not sure whether or not the site will continue under someone else or if I will regretfully end up shuttering the site. Either way, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of the other cities and their readers, writers and everyone else for keeping the City Story concept alive. I've considered pursuing a New York version, but for now I haven't made up my mind.

Best of luck to all readers, writers, and those responsible for accelerating the idea of city-based story telling.

*AHEM* It's getting a little lonely in here. Gijyun shares the disgust of an overpriced drink and the ramifications of a bar over-charging for booze in Hush Hush.

Denver's rough and tumble past is coming to greater light, perhaps partially due to a rekindled fascination with the Wild Wild West. Abby shares her family's tragic but true story recounted through interviews, newspaper articles and old family letters in "A Denver Family Story".

Gijyun shares thoughts on an un-rocking experience at the Larimer Lounge in "Azure Ray Does NOT ROCK". Bottles of gin on the wall in a seedier but ultra-cool dive, sometimes you don't know what you're in for until it's too late.

Gijyun recounts a night out on the town and a rather unpleasant sight in "Alcohol, Urban Areas and You". Dancing hippies, a fiddler toughy and the Colfax Strip make for a mean recipe - especially if your 3 scotch's to the wind...

A slice of Market Street madness remembered by a Denver bar hopper in "White Pants". Market Street used to be Denver's Red Light District back in the late 1800's. We'll be covering a new musical (yes, musical) opening on the street later this week, complete with Can-Can girls, barkeeps, faux gambling and coachmen valets. The Western theme seems to be more and more popular these days - even HBO is on board with their new series Deadwood (which by the way is pretty good and doesn't appear to follow your typical Hollywood western recipe).

Ginou shares thoughts on Denver, oddities included in "Observations of Denver".
