Steve-Portland says: Portland, Circa 1978 29 Nov 01 // 10:10PM

"The first weeks were terrifying yet electrifying. I was nineteen and had never experienced so much freedom. I explored the city, took the city bus over the bridge that didn't allow people to walk over it to get to downtown. I gradually grew closer to some of the others in the Portland house and we went to new places like the mall with the skating rink that I later learned was where Tonya Harding practiced."

Thoughts of Portland-1978, by Tamara Butler.

Kent-Vancouver says: The stars, man. It's almost all about them. 29 Nov 01 // 3:07AM

Cecily Walker Kidd's lovely story—born in the meteor shower that ran across the sky almost two weeks ago—new in Vancouver Stories (which is up and stumbling around again by the way, almost to its feet this time).

"Merry Prankster...", a new short city/story by Ed Smith from the wet pavement and luminous yellow fallen leaves of Portland Stories.

Derek-SF says: One for the RSS geeks 8 Nov 01 // 2:23PM

John-Shreveport says: I never really dealt with the pain 4 Nov 01 // 9:03PM

I sat there and listened to the report, and then the DJ jumped right back into the rest of his programming. Then, unabashed he played his rock and roll. He played his music and he didn't care.

My pain, a moving story by Ryan Reid, new at Shreveport Stories.

Erik-Seattle says: 2001 Seattle Story Contest Winners 1 Nov 01 // 8:34PM

At long last, each and every story submitted to the "Seattle Stories: Stories About Seattle Contest" between August 10th, and October 18th has been thoroughly read, scrutinizingly scrutinized, and harshly, yet lovingly, judged. And we have two winners.
