Erik-Seattle says: The Seattle Stories Contest! 10 Aug 01 // 12:24AM

As of this minute, there's a contest at Seattle Stories. For the next 2 months, we'll be accepting entries to the first ever "Seattle Stories: Stories About Seattle Contest." All stories submitted to the site between now and October 9th at midnight (Pacific Time) will be eligible (fineprint: as long as the story is true, and the story is personal (meaning it has to in some way be important to the person telling it), and the story takes place in Seattle). Simple! Couldn't be easier. Details inside!

And what will the winner win, you ask? $50, fifty dollars, fifty buckaroos! That's right, five crisp clean beautiful ten dollar bills, straight out of my slim, worn, ugly wallet (because I'm so poor, you see...). This could be all yours, if you just write a story. I can see the wheels turning in your story-crunching brain already. You greedy bastard.

But what do I, Erik, get out of this? Other than more stories (which really benefit everyone, don't they, if you think about it)? We'll, I have to admit that I have another reason for contributing this money, it's because I'm going to be the judge. Since I'm paying the money, I pick the winners. (Don't worry, I can't pick myself, that would be lame. Also, just to be fair, I won't pick my lovely lawfully wedded wife either--which is lucky for you because she woulda stomped y'all into the ground!) Here's the deal though: if you don't feel like writing a story, but still feel like contributing to the growing, thriving, imaginative, skillfull pool of Seattle writers, you can offer to add to the pot and become a judge as well. How about it? For example, wouldn't it be cool to have a second prize, and a third prize? That could be your gift! Anyway, let me know (erik at seattlestories.net) if you'd like to contribute to the prize, and

we'll figure something out.
