In my months of riding the Red Line, only once did I receive true entertainment onboard. Loud voices and - could that be? - applause. I looked over to my left, beyond the rows of anonymous backs-of-heads to find a man sitting in the center seat. His right hand balanced a folded Sun-Times, upon which were three small purple caps.
